Codes of Professional Conduct

(previously titled ‘Insurance Brokers Code of Practice [NZCOP]’)

This course provides an overview of the key Codes and Standards that guide the behaviour and obligations of financial advisers and insurance brokers in New Zealand.

Ethical and professional conduct form the cornerstone of trust between insurance professionals and their clients. This course provides an overview of the key Codes and Standards that guide the behaviour and obligations of financial advisers and insurance brokers in New Zealand.

You will learn about the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services (FMC Code), developed under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013, and the IBANZ Code of Professional Conduct, which applies to members of the Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand Inc (IBANZ). These Codes outline the standards of competence, care, diligence, and ethical behaviour expected of professionals in the industry.

Through this course, you will gain clarity on important terms, principles, and requirements contained within both Codes, helping you to interpret and apply them in practice.

Available on our Continued Professional Development (CPD) Portal, with multiple choice assessments at the end of the course. A total of 1.5 CPD points will be earned upon completion.
