Notwithstanding the fact it was a very hectic week for our claims teams sue to severe storm activity all along the east coast of Australia, the team dropped everything to assist clients following our appointment on 2 major commercial fires in New South Wales over this long weekend. The first is for the Hotel in Emu Plans which appears to have allegedly been lit by two young men, one of whom perished. It is a tragedy to all those concerned and a reminder to anyone to remember that you do not know where a fire will go nor who could be injured or killed should you commit arson. The second fire, to which we have just received instructions, occurred in Broken Hill, where a franchised fast food chain suffered a major fire in their kitchen. As flights to the city are limited on Sundays, Murray Rowley, Manager Gold Coast, will fly there tomorrow at first light in his light aircraft. LMI contacted the Insured and determined that an immediate response was necessary to assist the Insured franchisee who was naturally most distressed and to implement a strategy to mitigate the loss.
