French’s Laundry & Dry Cleaners offices and workshop, which employed about 30 staff members, located at 295 Maroondah Highway, Healesville was totally destroyed by fire on 9 July 2012. They had been trading at this location since December 2006.

Their insurer was Vero Insurance Ltd and their broker was Pollard Insurance Brokers.

LMI was able to negotiate a cash settlement with the loss adjuster, Bob Richards, which enabled French’s Laundry to re-establish their business at  new premises in Bayswater by early 2013, with a small sales office maintained in Healesville.

On 30 March 2015 the Phoenix Award was presented by LMI COO, Mr Mark Wood, to Jessica Nguyen of French’s Laundry & Dry Cleaners at their new premises. The award signifies that the business has survived over 2 years after a severe property damage incident, as a doctoral research paper by Dr Allan Manning into business survival showed that 50% of businesses that suffered a major loss, failed within 2 years.

The Insured was very appreciative of LMI’s assistance and the owners of the business, David and Jessica Nguyen are a hardworking couple with a young family, who are most worthy of the Phoenix Award. The broker at Pollards that assisted with the Insured’s was also very helpful in providing support to the Insured and assisting with the claim in any way she could.
