It is pleasing to see that the senate enquiry has shown that there is no gauging of customers by the insurance industry.

As reported by NoTaxOnInsurance, it is disappointing that the state government of Queensland in particular, decided to increase stamp duty on general insurance at a time when premiums were increasing. We fully support the federal government's call for Western Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland to abolish inefficient stamp duties and other levys on premiums.

Of course, we would go one step further and urge the New South Wales government to fix the enquitable tax on emergency services, which adds greatly to the cost of insurance in that state.
